About Us
About the store...
Bean Tree Baby is Connecticut’s source for baby carriers and cloth diapers! More than just an online store, Bean Tree Baby also offers education and instruction to local families with informational workshops and private consultations. Bean Tree Baby is committed to providing support to Connecticut families whether they are interested in learning the ins and outs of cloth diapering, the art of “wearing” their baby in a carrier, or both!
Behind the scenes...
Bean Tree Baby is operated by trained babywearing educator and cloth diaper enthusiast, Clover Heske. Shortly after the birth of her second child in 2004, Clover's passion for all things babywearing and cloth diapering led her to a job at a local natural baby store where she worked helping families choose and use baby carriers and cloth diapers until 2009. After taking a training in New York City in 2009 with Die Trageschule, a babywearing school based in Dresden, Germany, Clover started on the path that would lead to the founding of her own business, Bean Tree Baby. In 2010, Bean Tree Baby opened as an online store focused on serving the needs of Connecticut families who were interested in babywearing and cloth diapering while offering group workshops and private consultations around the state. In 2015, Bean Tree Baby's storefront in Newington joined the online store to expand services and offer an in person shopping experience. In 2018, as the business's needs changed, Bean Tree Baby's storefront moved to New Britain to be a part of Compass Wellness Center. Most recently, with the closing of Compass Wellness Center in summer of 2023, Bean Tree Baby closed their storefront space in New Britain. Currently, Bean Tree Baby is in a transitional period, waiting to move into a new location, but the online store remains open as usual and appointments for in person babywearing & cloth diapering help are still being offered in a temporary location.
On the non-business side, Clover's family includes her husband and their four children, born in 2000, 2004, 2006, and 2012. Her interests outside of babywearing and cloth diapers include coffee, chocolate, wrangling the plants in her big wild backyard, and watching too much streaming TV and movies.
