Catbird Baby's meh dai is more than meets the eye!  On the surface, it's a traditional meh dai* with long shoulder straps and short waist straps to tie on.  No hardware and sleek padding in the shoulders means different size wearers can easily and comfortably wear the same carrier.  Look closer and you'll see the innovative attached elastic loop at the base of the carrier seat, which allows adjustment in the width for use with a front facing out carry (for infants with good head/neck control, starting around 4-5mo old).  The elastic loop can also be used to narrow the seat for young infants who no longer want to be carried with their legs/feet "froggied" inside the carrier but who are too small to meet the full seat width of the meh dai.

*Inspired by traditional Chinese baby carriers used on the back, pronounced Meh¹ Dai² in Cantonese (superscript numbers represent tones); Bēi Dài in Mandarin. Mei Tai is from an older Cantonese-English Romanization system. All transliterations are meant to communicate the same word, but use different romanizations to spell Chinese words in English, and of course many different Chinese dialects exist as well.
