At Bean Tree Baby, we believe that babywearing is a skill and that in order to master it, parents and caregivers need all the information and hands on instruction they can get. Bean Tree Baby offers both private and group Babywearing 101 Workshops at locations around Connecticut as well as private Babywearing Consultations. Both services are designed to give parents the tools and support they need to make informed choices.

Babywearing 101 Workshops

Babywearing 101 is geared towards expectant and new parents who are interested in learning the basics of babywearing.

This workshop covers:

After the presentation, there is time for parents try on different carriers and receive hands on help. In general, the Babywearing 101 workshop is meant to be a primer for people with little or no experience with baby carriers so that they can hear about and see what the options are, first hand. At the end of a workshop, we hope that parents can walk away feeling ready to choose and use their first baby carrier.

Private Babywearing Consultations

Unfortunately today, we no longer live in a babywearing culture where we all have family and friends to help show us how to “wear” our babies. While all commercial baby carriers come with instructions, when it comes to babywearing, there really is no replacement for one-on-one instruction with a knowledgeable and caring mentor. Our private Babywearing Consultations are based on our training with Die Trageschule, one of the leading babywearing schools in Europe, and will include:

The goal of a private Babywearing Consultation is to give our clients personalized instruction so that they can become more proficient and confident in carrying their baby. In order to realize this, we work closely with clients to make sure we understand their particular needs. We feel strongly that once a parent has the right tools for the job, they will achieve success.

Babywearing Road Show

Tired of shopping online?  Ever wish a baby carrier store would come to you?  Well, now it can!  Gather a group of friends and Bean Tree Baby will bring all of our demonstration carriers plus a small selection of our instock carriers to your home.  At the beginning of the show we will explain the 5 main types of carriers and talk about some safety considerations for babywearing in general.  After that, we will help you and your guests try on carriers and answer any questions you may have.  And then, if you find a carrier that you just have to have... well, we will have some with us for you to choose from or we can ship your order for free!  Everyone attending the BTB Road Show will get a free gift and the host family will receive some great incentives.  It's a win-win all around!

Babywearing or Cloth Diaper Demonstrations

Bean Tree Baby is available to do demonstrations at local parenting group meetings or childbirth education classes in Connecticut.  We will happily donate our time for a demonstration to groups/classes that are part of a registered non-profit organization; however those within private for-profit organizations are welcome to contact us as well.  If you facilitate or attend a group/class whose members you think would benefit from learning more about babywearing or cloth diapers please contact us for more information.

Below is a listing of our fees. We believe strongly that every family should receive expert support in babywearing, so please contact us if you are in need of a reduced rate.

Group Babywearing 101 Workshops

Cost: Varies.

Private Babywearing 101 Workshops

Cost: $80

Gather a group of friends and we will come to you! The price quoted is for a 2hr workshop with a group of 4-6 families. Contact us about pricing for larger or smaller groups.

Private Babywearing Consultations

Cost: Long Consult $60*, Short Consult $45*

A long consult runs about 2hrs and includes an overview of the five main carrier types, help choosing a type of carrier to try, and instruction in at least one type of carrying position. A short consult is for families looking for help with a certain type of carrier or position and lasts about 1&1/2hrs. Please contact us if you need help deciding which type of consult is best for your family.

*The price of a private consultation includes a store credit valued at half the cost of the consult- $30 for a long consult and $22.50 for a short consult. 

Babywearing Road Show

Cost: FREE!

Gather a group of 4 families and we will bring Bean Tree Baby's store to you!  You and your guests will receive hands on help trying on carriers and be able to see all of our in-stock products for sale in person.  Contact us if you would like more information about hosting a show.

Gather a group of four families and Bean Tree Baby's cloth diaper store will come to you!  Shopping for cloth diapers online can be frustrating, not being able to see or touch the diapers before buying.  At our Cloth Diaper Road Show, we will bring with us our cloth diaper demo stash plus a small selection of our instock inventory and you and your friends will receive information about the different types of cloth diapers, how to choose the best diaper for your baby and your life style, and how to properly wash and care for your diapers.
